The lines between hardware and software wallet solutions for Bitcoin are starting to blur. KeepKey is the world’s first hardware wallet to integrate with ShapeShift. KeepKey users will be able to exchange their Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Dogecoin in a secure environment without registering an account.
Ever since the KeepKey hardware Bitcoin wallet has been released, the company has seen a steady uptick in the number of users. Consumers and enterprises want more secure solutions to store balances, and a hardware wallet is the most attractive solution to do so. But at the same time, the company has to keep adding new features.
One of those new features comes in the form of ShapeShift integration. KeepKey users can swap their digit asset holdings in a secure environment, with no account registration required. For now, Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Dogecoin are supported, although more currencies will be integrated at a future date.
KeepKey CEO Darin Stanchfield explained the decision as follows:
“While digital asset security is KeepKey’s primary goal, we are making life easier for the growing number of consumers buying, selling and storing several types of cryptocurrency. They can swap whatever they like, whenever they like, without the hassle of setting up multiple wallets or addresses or signing up to various exchanges. For traders, it’s exciting to dramatically improve the speed and efficiency of the currency exchange process with the most secure hardware wallet on the market today.”
Cryptocurrency enthusiasts will have noticed how the top twenty blockchain assets have seen a significant increase in trading volumes. However, the number of secure solutions for asset holders is relatively limited, unless they only hold Bitcoin. For most enthusiasts, that is not the case, though, which makes hardware wallet support all the more important.
This partnership will provide advantages to both novice and veteran cryptocurrency users. Security does not have to be overly complicated, as long as it is effective. KeepKey focuses on providing that security to as many cryptocurrency users around the world as possible. Integrating ShapeShift is just one example of how this can be achieved.
