New York-based blockchain solutions provider Axoni announced today the appointment of Thomas Chippas as chief operating officer.
Chippas has a long track record in the finance and trading industry; CEO of high-frequency trading firm Citadel Technology; Managing Director at Barclays Capital and Deutsche Bank; Principal of Electronic Trading Services at Bank of America.
Thomas Chippas’ extensive experience on Wall Street will be of great use to Axoni. The firm is already working with several large banking institutions and trading firms on modernizing various aspects of the securities industry.
In March, Axoni partnered with ICAP, a leading trading services firm in various markets, on a blockchain-based foreign exchange settlement prototype. Additionally, in April, Axoni collaborated with JPMorgan, Citigroup, Bank of America and Credit Suisse Group, on a credit default swaps (CDS) trading experiment using distributed ledgers.
With this new appointment, Axoni is looking to expand its presence in the rapidly-growing blockchain space on Wall Street, “Axoni has proven itself in multiple proofs of concept, creating substantial interest in our capabilities. Tom brings a broad skill set and industry expertise to supplement that momentum. We are thrilled to have him join the executive team.” said Greg Schvey, CEO of Axoni.
Chippas said that he was “elated” to work with Axoni and explained that his long career in the financial industry will aid Axoni in bringing this new technology to the market:
