Rootstock To Hit Private Testnet This Month

Rootstock Inches Closer To Completion

Many people have been looking forward to using smart contracts in the Bitcoin ecosystem. That is quite strange, considering this type of technology has been made available to Bitcoin enthusiasts for quite some time now, even though very few developers and companies have been exploring this space.

Rootstock has gotten a large part of the Bitcoin ecosystem excited for the future, and it has to be said, the concept holds a lot of merit. Now that the team announced smart contracts will be coming to a private Bitcoin testnet in a few weeks, it will be interesting to see how this will impact both Bitcoin and Ethereum.

But there is more to the Rootstock than just smart contracts, as the platform will also allow for Turning Complete scripts. Although this technology is rather complicated to explain in a few lines, interest parties should take a closer look at the whitepaper put out by the company not too long ago.

However, the entire Rootstock concept has to be put into perspective a bit, as these smart contracts will only use Bitcoin as a suitable currency. This means these smart contracts are not validated on the Bitcoin blockchain, nor will miners play a role in the process. Dedicated Rootstock nodes will take care of this process, and they can be run by anyone in the world.

Despite all of that, Rootstock is an intriguing concept to keep an eye on over the coming months. The ability to use Bitcoin with smart contracts is nothing new, but this company might finally put that technology on the map. For those users who are not willing to wait that long, BitHalo might be worth checking out. Or develop your own solution, that might work too.
