In 2024, Aave achieved groundbreaking milestones, solidifying its position as the leader in decentralized finance.

The launch of Aave 2030 and V4 introduced cutting-edge features, driving innovation across the ecosystem. By the end of the year, Aave reached a historic milestone, recording its highest deposits since 2021, with $35 billion in net deposits—cementing its status as the largest DeFi protocol.

The Aave DAO launched five new markets in 2024, including Prime, Scroll ZKP, BNB Chain, zkSync Era, and EtherFi, collectively valued at $2.55 billion. And the momentum doesn’t stop there—several more markets are already navigating governance approvals. If approved, over six new chains could join the ecosystem in 2025, including Sonic Labs, Mantle, Linea Build, Bob, Spider Chain by Botanix Labs, Aptos, and others.

GHO, Aave’s stablecoin, made its cross-chain debut on Arbitrum in 2024 and is set to expand to Base and Avalanche in early 2025. Ending the year with a strong peg, GHO is well-positioned for further integration across Aave’s markets.

The protocol underwent two major upgrades in 2024—V3.1 and V3.2—bringing enhanced security and operational improvements. A third upgrade, V3.3 (Umbrella), is on the horizon. This update will introduce automated risk mitigation and “Liquid eModes,” enhancing the borrowing experience.

Aave’s governance community executed over 200 proposals in 2024, driving successful initiatives such as the Merit Program, Aavethena, Sky Aave Force, and co-incentive programs like PYUSD. These efforts played a crucial role in Aave’s record-breaking year.

At the heart of these accomplishments is Aave 2030, a bold vision designed to position Aave as the global leader in DeFi. Powered by the innovative V4 framework, the strategy focuses on modularity, governance efficiency, and the revolutionary Hub and Spoke liquidity architecture.
