As 2025 begins, Bitcoin ($BTC) is gearing up for what could be one of its most defining years yet.
With the AVIV Ratio steadily climbing, many analysts believe the peak of this market cycle is still ahead.
The first half of the year is expected to bring market-defining events, offering both opportunities and challenges for investors.
One notable trend is Bitcoin’s movement away from exchanges. Data reveals that daily deposits to exchanges have dropped to levels not seen since 2016, signaling a strong shift toward holding Bitcoin in personal wallets. The Netflow-to-Reserve Ratio further confirms a consistent outflow of coins, indicating increased confidence among long-term holders.
Despite this trend, whale activity remains robust. Just three hours ago, a whale deposited 778 BTC (valued at $72 million) into Kraken. Since the market decline on December 20, this whale has deposited a total of 3,038 BTC ($286 million) into Kraken and currently holds an impressive 24,665 BTC (approximately $2.27 billion).
Meanwhile, Bitcoin-related ETFs are facing significant outflows. On December 30, the Bitcoin spot ETF recorded a net outflow of $426 million, marking two consecutive days of withdrawals. Similarly, the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) saw a daily net outflow of $135 million, contributing to a historical net outflow of $21.487 billion.
As Bitcoin’s supply tightens and institutional products experience outflows, 2025 is shaping up to be a transformative year for the world’s largest cryptocurrency. Whether it’s the continued accumulation by whales or the impact of reduced exchange deposits, the market dynamics suggest that Bitcoin’s next big move could define its future trajectory. Investors should brace for a potentially wild ride in the months ahead.
