The largest Season 1 EIGEN claimant, boby1337.eth, made headlines today after withdrawing 1 million $EIGEN ($3.61M) from Binance roughly five hours ago.

After selling part of the 2.255 million tokens claimed from the airdrop on listing day, boby1337.eth has been steadily re-accumulating $EIGEN over the past two days.

In a significant move, the whale has now sent the entirety of their 3.011 million $EIGEN (valued at $10.7M) to Eigenlayer for staking, signaling strong confidence in the platform’s future.

However, not all recent $EIGEN transactions have been positive. A wallet offloaded 1.67 million $EIGEN via MetaMask at $3.30 after receiving the tokens from the Eigenlayer team wallet.

Hacker Activity Involving A Total Theft Of $5.5 Million In $EIGEN

In a related but isolated incident, Eigenlayer reported that an email thread involving one of their investors was compromised by a hacker. The attacker took control of the investor’s email, resulting in the theft of 1,673,645 $EIGEN tokens, valued at $5.5 million.

The stolen tokens were sold through a decentralized swap platform, and the hacker converted the funds into stablecoins before transferring them to centralized exchanges.

Eigenlayer has since reached out to these exchanges and law enforcement, and a portion of the stolen funds has already been frozen. Importantly, the broader ecosystem remains unaffected by the breach, with no vulnerabilities found in the protocol or token contracts. The attack was unrelated to any onchain functionality, and Eigenlayer continues to investigate the situation while providing updates to the community as they become available.
