Smartphones have become an omnipresent technology in our lives. We don’t go anywhere without them, and somehow, they even make a statement about who we are. But the phones we are about to show you are designed to express how much you have.
Vanity is a sin, or so they say. Some wealthy people inevitably show off how much they have. But the phones we are about to present are explicitly designed to express how much money one has in one’s bank account.
These types of cell phones aren’t equipped with the latest technology; most of them don’t even belong in the “smartphone” category. Their price tag and intended market are aimed at a select few. Here are the top 5 most expensive phones:
5.- GoldVish Le Million ($1.3 Million)
This phone screams, “Rob me!” all over the place. The whole body is encrusted with 120 karat diamonds, making you wonder how much money will be going to the floor when one of the tiny diamonds gets loose. The body of the gadget is made of gold, which you can’t see because it’s covered with diamonds.
4.- Diamond Crypto Smartphone ($1.3 Million)
Designed by jeweler Peter Aloisson and released in 2006, the Diamond Crypto Smartphone was created to provide “powerful encryption technology”, according to its creators. The phone uses Windows CE as its main operating system. The company behind it, JSC Ancort, marketed the gadget as a secure device which “provides secure protection of information against kidnapping, technological blackmail, financial racketeering, and corrupt state officials”. Despite the crypto mumbo-jumbo, the cell phone is encased in platinum and 50 diamonds, ten of which are blue.
3.- Amosu Call of Diamond iPhone 6 ($3 Million)
Alexander Amosu is a designer who made his first million by selling ringtones for old phones. He now creates exotic apparel and customizes cell phones for celebrities, actors, footballers, and other high-net-worth individuals. The Call of Diamond is a custom-made iPhone 6 encased in an 18k gold body, 6,127 tiny diamonds, and the cherry (or should we say, apple) on top of the cake is a 52 karat diamond cut with the logo of Cupertino’s most famous company.
2.- Black Diamond iPhone 5 ($15 Million)
If you think that paying $3 million for an outdated cellphone was too much, meet the even older Black Diamond iPhone 5. This baby comes with an extremely rare 26 karat, black-colored diamond. The jewel belongs to a Chinese businessman who contacted Stuart Hughes, an English luxury designer, who then came up with the idea to encrust the rare jewel in the home button of the now obsolete smartphone.
1.- Falcon SuperNova iPhone 6 ($100 Million)
Are you noticing a trend here? iPhones tend to be expensive, and they are also popular among luxury designers who like to use them to reap a nice premium from wealthy folks. The SuperNova is the most expensive phone ever created. The company behind it created a whole line of custom-designed iPhones encrusted with all kinds of jewels to fit “all” pocket sizes. What makes this iPhone so expensive is the huge pink diamond on the back of the phone. If you want this luxury item, you might as well buy a private jet–if you don’t have one already.
