Top 5 Ethereum Wallets

With so many people paying attention to Ethereum right now, a lot of novice users need a secure wallet solution. Keeping funds in an exchange is never a good idea by any means. Luckily, there are quite a few Ethereum wallets out there which are well worth considering. We have listed our personal top 5, consisting of software and hardware solutions, below.

5. XETH

One of the most recent Ethereum wallet services to launch goes by the name of XETH. This particular service provides Ethereum users with stealth payments, introducing an additional layer of privacy and anonymity. While XETH has quite the appeal, it remains a bit unclear who is operating the service. Make sure to check our extended coverage of XETH in this article to find out whether or not his wallet solution suits your needs.

4. Jaxx

The Jaxx wallet has built up quite a solid reputation over the past few years. It was the first wallet to enable dual support for Bitcoin and Ethereum at the same time. Ever since that time, the Jaxx team has expanded its support for other cryptocurrencies, tokens, and digital assets. It is still a very popular wallet among Ethereum users. Thanks to its convenience and ease of use, this wallet is well-suited for both novice and experienced cryptocurrency users.

3. MyEtherWallet

It is not hard to see why MyEtherWallet is getting a lot of praise from the Ethereum community. It is an open source client which does not rely on third-party servers to operate. Instead, everything takes place on the user’s computer, which means the service will always be accessible. It is not a web wallet in the traditional form by any means, as no one is controlling your Ethereum balance other than you.

It is also worth noting MyEtherWallet supported ERC20 tokens, Ethereum Classic, and can be used in conjunction with hardware wallets such as Trezor. This latter part is quite interesting, as it allows Trezor owners to store Ether on their hardware wallet. Additionally, the Trezor wallet can also be used to store ERC20 tokens and sign off on transactions to provide additional security.

2. Mist

In some cases, there is nothing better than using the official Ethereum wallet known as Mist. This particular solution has seen a lot of upgrades over the past few years, and can be trusted at all times. Mist is also a wallet client that supports multisignature addresses, which can be quite convenient for advanced users. It does require you to download the entire Ethereum blockchain, though, which can be a bit of an issue for people using computers with less free hard disk space. Overall, Mist is a convenient wallet that offers everything users would need.

1. Ledger Nano S

Hardware wallets are always the best solution when it comes to keeping funds safe from harm. The Ledger Nano S has stolen many hearts ever since its release, because it is quite simple to use, provides top-notch security, and is not all that expensive when looking at what you get in return. The Ledger Nano S also supports Ethereum out of the box, without the need for third-party plugins or custom software. It is a preferred solution to store Ethers long-term.
