Over the years, it has become apparent that a lot of people want to find out who the creator of Bitcoin is. So far, we only know this person, or group, by the Satoshi Nakamoto pseudonym. A lot of times the media speculated as to who may be behind the pseudonym, but they have been wrong every time so far. Below you will find a list of wild speculations related to the infamous creator of Bitcoin.
When people discuss cryptocurrency and cryptography, the name Nick Szabo is never far away. Rightfully so, as he published a paper on Bit Gold in the 90’s, which is one of the concepts
predating Bitcoin. Additional evidence to stave this claim was provided by Dominic Frisby, although these findings have never convinced the masses that Szabo is indeed Satoshi Nakamoto. In fact, Nick Szabo has denied being Satoshi Nakamoto, although that is what one would expect from whoever is behind this pseudonym. Although he has the knowledge required to create bitcoin, it is doubtful whether the popular cryptocurrency has been created by just one individual. Whether or not there is more to this story remains an intriguing mystery.
Perhaps the wildest conspiracy theory out there associated with the creation of Bitcoin relates to the involvement of an unspecified law enforcement agency. Whether it is the NSA, CIA, or even Homeland Security, quite a few people believe that the government is behind Bitcoin. But if that were the case, why would they oppose cryptocurrency at every possible turn? Then again, it remains a possibility, as no one knows for sure who Satoshi Nakamoto is or was.
Even though Dorian and Satoshi share the same last name, that is about as far as their relationship goes. A true manhunt against Dorian Nakamoto took place in 2014, thanks to an article published in Newsweek. Journalist Leah McGrath Goodman claimed that Dorian’s birth name is Satoshi Nakamoto, and his training as a physicist seem to add more fuel to the fire.
Things escalated when reporters started camping out near Dorian Nakamoto’s house. However, later on he denied all correlations to Bitcoin, and stated that the media had turned this into a story that didn’t exist in the first place. In a surprising turn of events, the official Satoshi Nakamoto P2P Foundation account posted a message stating how he is not Dorian. It was the first message by that account in five years.
Based on his parlor tricks, Craig Steven Wright could very well have been Satoshi Nakamoto. He even managed to
convince Gavin Andresen and Jon Matonis that he was indeed the one and only Satoshi. Moreover, he boldly claimed to have moved funds stored in one of Satoshi’s original Bitcoin wallets, yet these claims were never substantiated. In May of 2016, these rumors were put to rest and declared to be a hoax.If you liked this article, follow us on Twitter @themerklenews and make sure to subscribe to our newsletter to receive the latest bitcoin, cryptocurrency, and technology news.
