Leaked Source Code Hints At Major Pokemon Go Update, Including PvP Battles

Pokemon Go is scheduled to undergo a major overhaul in the next game update. Leaked source code details seem to indicate that a total of 100 new Pokemon will be introduced to players all over the world. In doing so Niantic seems to indicate that the game is more than just a flash in the pan, and they continue to attract new players. Moreover, the patch may finally introduce player vs. player battles.

Major Pokemon Go Update Offers Lots of Excitement

It has been impossible to deny the success of Pokemon Go in the past few months. What most people saw as a short-lived mobile game has turned into a global phenomenon. But the biggest surprise is that game developer Niantic is constantly adding content and features, and closing the gap between early adopters and newcomers.

According to the revealed details relating to the new patch source code, a total of 100 new Pokemon creatures will make their way onto smartphones and tablets shortly. Niantic has not officially confirmed these rumors, but they have not denied them either. One thing is certain, and it is that a major patch is coming to Pokemon Go next month.

Adding new Pokemon to capture tis a great way to keep existing players engaged, as well as to attract new users. Even though this game has been around for quite some time now, the number of creatures to collect has remained fairly limited since the game was released.  It is time that additions were made.

The biggest change, however, is how player-versus-player battles are finally coming to Pokemon Go. Although players have been able to battle tamers wherever they go, competing against other trainers is a very different experience. Such a  feature has been requested for quite some time now, but it takes a fair bit of research and development to make sure it is possible to integrate.

Additional new features include the option to let Pokemon mature in different ways. This feature is expected to show similarities with how Tamagotchi hatchlings operate, although more details are expected to be released as we get closer to the patch data. This is an interesting development and a clear sign that Niantic is listening to their user base.

With this new patch, Pokemon Go will become even more popular than it’s ever been. Considering how the game is entirely free to play, there is no reason for players not to pick it up again. Even though player numbers have declined sharply, the addition of new Pokemon alone should bring back a lot of players in the coming months.
