EA Games Subscription Service Origin: Access Can Benefit From Bitcoin Payments

Gaming enthusiasts have taken a liking to the idea of EA Games starting their own subscription service. Origin: Access is a direct competitor with other popular online gale libraries such as Steam. However, the EA Games initiative will work slightly different as users won’t be required to purchase a license to the games. Bitcoin would make a valuable addition to the list of supported payment methods for these smaller subscription amounts.

EA Games Unveils Origin: Access To The Public

First and foremost, the Origin: Access platform will not give users direct access to the latest and greatest games ever created by EA Games. However, their current library offers some interesting games, all of which can be accessed for a modest fee of EUR 3.99 per month.

In exchange for that small amount of money every month, users will be able to access various EA games, called “The Vault.” Among the games are titles such as Battlefield 4, The Sims 3, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and others. A similar service exists for Xbox One users as well, although that service is limited to games developed by EA Games.

Origin: Access offers all games labeled as “EA Access,” and there are plans on the table to open up The Vault to include more games by third-party developers. No further titles have been officially announced just yet, but more information will become available as the collection grows.

Becoming a member of Origin: Access will not only grant access to The Vault, but players will also receive early access to EA Games’ productions before they hit the market. As one would come to expect, subscribers are granted access to these games for a limited time. Last but not least, every subscriber will get a 10% discount on all future purchases made through the Origin store.

So far, the service is only available to residents of the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Germany. More countries will be added over time, although EA Games did not provide a roadmap with dates for the international rollout of their new service. The price point of EUR 3.99 per month has not been confirmed either for other European countries, although the Xbox One counterpart of this service has the same price tag.

Bitcoin is A Great Solution For Subscriptions

It goes without saying that using a credit card, PayPal, or bank account for a monthly subscription service can be a pain in the neck. Bitcoin offers a viable solution for both EA Games and consumers around the world as the digital currency can be used as a global payment method.

In fact, a recurring subscription system for Bitcoin payments could help put the digital currency on the map in both the gaming and financial industries. Up until now, every Bitcoin payment has to be done manually unless the user pre-funds their account with a specific balance. EA Games could get a major advantage over its competitors by exploring the Bitcoin route.
