Bitcoin Payments Firm Bitwala to Present at Pioneers Festival 2016

Dutch bitcoin payment company Bitwala has been selected as one of the top 70 startups at the Pioneers Festival 2016, a 2-day event featuring the most promising European technology startups.

The Pioneers Festival will be held in Vienna, Austria, between the 24th and 25th of May. The event will feature 10 representatives from 7 ecosystems: Business & Productivity, Financial Services, Lifestyle & Entertainment, Materials & Manufacturing, Mobility & Transportation, Energy & Utilities, Life Sciences & Agriculture.

Bitwala, as well as cross-border money remittance startup Cashila, are two blockchain startups competing in the Financial Services ecosystem of the festival.

In her post, Bitwala’s Andrea Hasler said how excited the firm is to be selected from the large pool of applicants, “Bitwala got shortlisted out of 500 participating startups. So yes, it is a big deal and we are stoked!” writes Hasler.

According to Hasler’s post, Bitwala CEO Jörg von Minckwitz will be presenting Bitwala at the Pioneers Challenge Day – held on May 23 – which will be attended by over 300 international investors and venture capital firms. Additionally, Bitwala will have its own booth at the festival.

Jörg von Minckwitz shared his enthusiasm:

“This is an incredible opportunity for us to share what we do and share the joy of using Bitcoin to our peers in the industry.”

The Pioneers Festival will culminate in a finale on May 25th, where the winner of each ecosystem will get the opportunity to present their company to the entire festival:

“The best one out of the 7 finalists will be awarded Pioneer of the Year.”
