Vitalik Buterin Sells Donated Memecoins, Raises $346K for Charity

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, is once again selling memecoins donated to his wallet. Over the past five hours, he liquidated 13 different memecoins, accumulating $346,000 in USDC.

The proceeds were subsequently donated to the Kanro address, a charity initiative associated with Buterin.

Impact on Memecoins

Due to the small market capitalizations and shallow liquidity pools of many of these tokens, some experienced significant price drops following Buterin’s sales. Notably, $DINU plummeted by 68%, while $JSHIBA declined by 38%.

Breakdown of Sales

Here’s a detailed summary of the memecoins sold and the corresponding amounts raised:

– 50 trillion $DINU: $13,208 USDC

– 50.48 billion $ESTEE: $116,306 USDC

– 300 million $FREE: $30,730 USDC

– 400 trillion $DOBE: $16,659 USDC

– 92,000 $DOGE: $35,233 USDC

– 23.76 trillion $PLUTO: $17,262 USDC

– 5 million $SWKCoin: $10,479 USDC

– 2 trillion $DOJO: $4,492 USDC

– 8047 trillion $JSHIBA: $21,466 USDC

– 5 billion $MONKEY: $10,752 USDC

– 698,000 $OMIKAM: $27,895 USDC

– 10 billion $CULTl $24,224 USDC

51 trillion $ELONONE: $17,875 USDC

Philanthropy Through Crypto

Buterin’s approach demonstrates a creative way to repurpose donated assets, transforming otherwise speculative tokens into funds for charitable purposes. However, the sharp price declines highlight the fragility of low-cap tokens and the outsized influence of large sales on their market value.
